The only Alabama gambling authority is the Alabama Racing Commission.
Also known as the "Birmingham Racing Commission", the Commission is a public corporation that licenses and regulates thoroughbred and
greyhound racing pari-mutuel betting at the Birmingham Race Course.
The Commission consists of five official members. The Mayor of Birmingham and the President of the Jefferson County Commission serve
as ex-officio members. One member is appointed by the Alabama Lieutenant Governor, two by the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation,
one by the Alabama House and one by the Senate.
The Commission has two offices, including one at the Race Course.
Alabama has a Native American casino in Atmore, the Creek Casino and Bingo Palace.
