The Commission administers ensures the allocation of gaming devices among Indian tribes does not exceed the allowable number.

The Bureau of Gambling Control within the Department of Justice is the state law enforcement authority with jurisdiction over gambling activities. They conduct criminal background investigations on gambling license and work permit applications.

The California Lottery is the largest state lottery in the United States.
