Horse Racing Alberta oversees the horse racing industry.
The Alberta Gaming Research Council directs the activities of the
Alberta Gaming Research Institute at the University of Alberta.
British Columbia
The British Columbia Gaming Policy and Enforcement branch of the Ministry of Public Safety
and Solicitor General broadly regulates gaming in the province. This includes overseeing casinos and bingo halls, as well as the horse racing and
simulcast betting industry. The British Columbia Lottery Corporation is responsible for the BC Lottery
Manitoba
The Manitoba Gaming Control Commission is responsible for regulating and
controlling gaming activities in the province, including raffles, bingo, casinos and lotteries.
The Manitoba Horse Racing Commission regulates thoroughbred and harness racing
pari-mutuel wagering.
The Manitoba Lotteries Corporation manages two casinos as well as video lottery terminals
and all other lottery products.
New Brunswick
The Lotteries Commission of New Brunswick is a part of the regional Atlantic Lottery Corporation.
Newfoundland / Labrador
The Trade Practices and Licensing Division regulates lotteries and bingo
in Newfoundland and Labrador, but the Atlantic Lottery Corporation is responsible for the actual
operation of the lottery.
Nova Scotia
The Nova Scotia Alcohol and Gaming Authority licenses and regulates gaming activities in the province.
The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation operates the provinces casinos, and is a member of the
Atlantic Lottery Corporation.
Ontario
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission regulates the province's casinos, charity casinos and slot
machine facilities.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation operates lottery products, racino slots, bingo, charity,
Indian and commercial casinos.
Prince Edward Island
The Attorney General's Consumer Division regulates bingos, raffles, casino nights and lotteries.
The Atlantic Lottery Corporation operates the lottery for the province.
Quebec
The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux regulates horse racing, gaming and lotteries
in the province.
The Loto Québec operates three casinos, administers a video lottery system and a network
of bingo activities.
Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan Gaming Authority is responsible for regulating most forms of gaming in the
province including bingo, raffles, lotteries, casinos, break-open tickets and horse racing. They also register gaming employees and suppliers.
The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation in partnership with the Federation
of Saskatchewan Indian Nations operates two casinos.
The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority operates the First Nations casinos in the province.
Northwest Territories/Nunavut/Yukon
The Yukon,
Nunavut and
Northwest Territories agencies regulating the lotteries are operated by
Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
